A step-by-step guide

Before you get started 

You will need: your own Type 2 cable for this charger. 

Anyone can charge here, including:  

  • bp pulse subscribers using a bp pulse charge card 

  • Pay-as-you-go customers using the bp pulse app 

  • Guests using the bp pulse live map

Pro-tip: If you’re not a subscriber, you can download the bp pulse app and use pay-as-you-go, or charge as a guest using the bp pulse live map. This charger does not accept contactless payment via contactless card or mobile wallets.

Step 1: Select your payment method

If you're a bp pulse subscriber

Tap your bp pulse charge card, key fob or other RFID charge card on the reader.

If you’re a pay-as-you-go customer

  • Open the bp pulse app. 

  • Select Charge, indicated by a lightning bolt. 

  • Enter the charger ID. 

  • Select your preferred socket. 

  • Select the Charge button. 

If you don’t have credit, click Top up to charge. You’ll need at least £5.00 of credit to start a charge.

If you're a guest

  • Find the charger you want to use by zooming in on the map and clicking the pin. 

  • Click Select to use the charging point 

  • under Chargepoint Details, choose your preferred socket by clicking Select 

Step 2: Plug your cable in, then start your charge

Take your cable and plug it into your selected socket.

It will lock into place. Make sure it’s firmly in, so charging can begin.

When your charge starts, the lights on the charger will turn from blue to green. 

If you’re using the bp pulse app, it will show your charging session is in process. 

Step 3: Stop your charging session

If you’re a bp pulse subscriber

Tap your bp pulse charge card, key fob or other RFID charge card on the reader.

If you’re a pay as you go customer

Press Stop in the bp pulse app.

If you’re a guest

Select Stop charging on your web browser.

Step 4. Get back on the road

Remove your cable

  • Pro tip: Depending on your vehicle’s manufacturer and model, you may also be able to release your cable using a button inside your vehicle. This could be located on the dashboard, steering column, or in the boot. Check your manual.  

  • Pro tip: Your cable may not unlock if the car is locked.

And you're ready to go.
