bp pulse boosts EV charging availability in Mansfield with a new ultra-fast charging hub

  • bp pulse has opened a new ultra-fast charging hub in Mansfield, boosting EV charging capacity for drivers and businesses in Nottinghamshire

  • Located in Ransom Wood Business Park, the ultra-fast 300 kW chargers can add up to 100 miles of range in around 15 minutes depending on the vehicle, its charge management software, its battery, the weather and driving conditions

  • Mansfield MP Ben Bradley welcomes the new EV charging hub for helping enable local motorists and businesses transition to electric vehicles

In the latest boost to the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in Nottinghamshire, bp pulse has opened its first ultra-fast EV charging hub in Mansfield. The three new ultra-fast 300kW chargers installed significantly upgrade the town’s public electric vehicle charging network, enabling six EVs to charge at once.

The new chargers use the latest technology and are capable of adding up to 100 miles of range in around 15 minutes (depending on the vehicle, its charge management software, its battery, the weather and driving conditions). While customers charge, they can fill up their caffeine battery at Costa or grab a bite to eat at Dunkin Donuts thanks to the retail options available onsite.

In just the last three months, there have been 20,000 charging sessions at bp pulse charge points in Nottinghamshire. And through this latest network expansion, bp pulse is helping to deliver the reliability, convenience and confidence local motorists and fleet operators need to go electric.

With the half term break ahead, the new hubs could also allow drivers to reach popular holiday destinations such as the Peak District or the Yorkshire Dales with only a 20-minute charge.

Akira Kirton, vice president, bp pulse UK, said:

"We are thrilled to open this new site in Mansfield, the latest site open with our ultra-fast chargers in the East Midlands. It’s another step forward for bp pulse’s vision of connecting the UK and delivering the EV infrastructure needed for the UK’s transition to electric vehicles.”

Councillor Ben Bradley, Member of Parliament for Mansfield said:

“I’m really pleased and grateful for this investment in important local infrastructure. This is a well-located site, on a major junction of a number of busy routes, and so it will be a real help to drivers, as well as giving people more confidence that electric vehicle charging infrastructure is available to them if they choose to switch their vehicles. It’s good to see bp investing in this kind of kit in our area.”

Reza Shaybani, CEO of the EV Network, the partners bp pulse worked with to deliver the site, said:

“We are proud to bring another great location to the UK’s infrastructure. Mansfield has been an exciting project and we have enjoyed working with bp pulse to bring this great site live. We look forward to supporting more journeys and powering even more electric miles with bp pulse in the future”.

bp pulse is one of the leading public EV charging networks in the UK. It has ambitious plans to deliver on-the-go and destination charging infrastructure.

Today, around 70% of the population in Great Britain live within a 5-mile radius of a bp pulse rapid or ultra-fast charge point.

bp is backing Britain with plans to invest up to £18 billion in the UK energy system by 2030. This includes up to £1 billion for EV charging infrastructure.

bp’s wider transformation is underway. Whilst today we’re mostly in oil & gas, we’ve increased global investment into our lower carbon & other transition businesses from around 3% in 2019 to around 30% last year.
